Extracurricular Schedule 2020-21

We are currently in the middle of our track & field season for Grades 2-7.  We are off to a great start, with students working on their running of various distances in PE and then over 80% of Grades 2-7 students have been participating in either high jump, long jump, discus, or shot put before or after school.

Here is a link to the schedule calendar (Link).  There may be some outside of PE running practices later in the season, and we will notify parents of any additions to the schedule.

Physical & Health Education

This will be an area where any important physical & health education information, including due dates, will be posted throughout the year.

Grade 1-3

-we have offered our students in these grades a challenge to complete a “marathon” by the spring.  They won’t complete 42 kilometers at once, but for each kilometer a child in Grades 1-3 runs between the fall and the spring (both during PE and on their own time), they are to colour in one, sign, or cross out paw print in the document shown in the link below.  This challenge is an optional one for Grades 1-3 students to try, and the class that runs the most kilometres by spring will get an extra PE class where we play a game.

Marathon for Kids

Grades 4-5

The Grade 4-5 students are currently in the middle of a health education unit on mental well-being, including healthy relationships.  One of the topics is conflict resolution, and we will be doing an assignment soon on resolving a conflict between Fairy Tale characters.

Grade 6

The Grade 6 students are finishing up a mental well-being unit in health education and will be working on conflict resolution in the next unit.

Grade 7

The Grade 7 students are currently studying the Social Determinants of Health and will be creating an infographic on one of the 17 Social Determinants of Health in Canada.
